The journal – the blank pages

When the pressure is on… just start. There is a way through every block. Yogi Bhajan

Many of us have hard time writing. Its like having painters block, we see this canvas before us and we become parlayed by the sight of it… it can scare the hell out of us…putting the pen to the paper can be a huge step into self awakening, being aware of the fact that this process scares the hell out of me… what will I write, will it be perfect, is the grammar correct, do my thoughts make sense… trust me, non of that matters…

What matters is taking the risk… try an exercise of just doodling on a blank piece of paper, just letting your hands move the pen, no set agenda, no set image. Just to freely move your hands, become aware of the movement, take your eyes off the paper…close your eyes …continue to move the pen on the paper…go into the experience, how does it feel to let go. To feel the sense of liberation when there are no expectations…

Can I do this…. can I keep my eyes closed and not check the paper to see what I have done…. can I focus on the images that come through my minds eye… what is the mind movie that is playing while I move the pen…now stop, sit, gently open your eyes, slowly gaze at the page, what is the first reaction, write the first word that comes into your thought process, write it on the paper with out hesitation, don’t think about it… now move on.

Now play some music that inspires you… something that maybe has no lyrics, but beautiful sound waves… close your eyes, have a new piece of paper in front of you, sit breathing deeply in and out, full breaths, hold the pen in your hand, don’t use it yet. Just hold it, use both hands to feel the pen, become connected to this object…this tool, now gently open your eyes, staying in the sound scape, put the pen to the paper and begin to write freely, words after words, letting the process of free expression come though,

What where my intentions that I began the New Year with? How have they manifested, have I kept them in my focus or have they shifted from what I originally thought I wanted or needed? Its great whatever the answer is, we change, everything changes, what we thought was important yesterday, may not be important today… or my reasons for one thought, may become a different reason… which is perfect, the idea is to be perfect in the imperfection. Not to become attached to the end result, but to enjoy the journey, the ride is the important component and what we see and learn on the ride… writing in your journal is like going for a leisurely Sunday afternoon car ride, going out with no specific destination other that just to enjoy the day…explore your soul… write without any set intention, other than to go for the ride… be free, be willing, be open to all that your exploration has to offer. You are in the drivers seat of your own destiny… if you choose… choose you today.
